Share of Voice
The full name of SOV — SkuLift’s multi-engine, multi-level AI-visibility metric.
What is Share of Voice?
Share of Voice is SkuLift’s core measurement metric — the full name of SOV. It is multi-engine across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, and multi-level across a four-level pyramid: Presence, Volume, Quality and Weak signals.
Share of Voice quantifies how often, how prominently and how favourably AI engines cite your brand against its category.
The term is borrowed from media measurement — your share of the conversation — but rebuilt for AI answers. Instead of impressions or ad spend, Share of Voice counts citations and mentions inside the responses engines generate, then weights them by prominence and authority through the pyramid.
Share of Voice is deliberately not one figure. The mention rate at L1 tells you whether you appear at all; Word Count Share at L2 tells you how much room you take; PWC, FMP, CAS and sentiment at L3 tell you whether you are quoted early, by trusted sources and in a positive light. Reading the pyramid top to bottom turns a vague "are we visible?" into a precise diagnosis.
Because it is engine-aware and sampled, Share of Voice exposes asymmetries a single score would hide — strong on one engine, absent on another, stable on parametric memory but weak on web-grounded answers. That granularity is what lets the closed loop target the right fix.
